The Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief

size: 15 inches from center back to triangle tip and 55 inch wingspan after blocking

yarn: DK weight - approx. 100 grams for kerchief, 160 grams for shawl

recommended yarns: DK weight bases such as DK 250, 50/50 DK, and SW Polwarth DK

needles: US 8/5mm 24-32 inch circular needles for knitting flat

This small kerchief is quick to knit with just one skein of DK weight yarn. The shawl uses a little over 2 skeins. For best results, wet block aggressively to achieve straight sides as well as desired finished size.

I designed this pattern back in 2010 and knit so many of these over the years for myself and as gifts. It’s quick and easy and makes a great gift.

Sample made with SW Polwarth DK in color Bee+Grey.

S T R I P E S

recommended yarns: Worsted weight bases such as SW Merino Worsted, Mer-Lin Twist

needles: US 9/5.5mm 24-32 inches for knitting in the round

This cozy cowl is an easy knit that uses two contrasting colors of worsted or aran weight yarn. If you dislike purling in the round, you can knit the cowl flat and join the ends with a small seam.

Sample made with SW Merino Worsted in colors Cottage White and Coral Rose.

Duotone Cowl is a continuous loop created by grafting the ends of a stockinette tube. Two colors are worked in a series of stripes which reverse in size halfway around the cowl.
